The Event Freelancer Summit.

Connektd, the community platform for companies and freelancers working in events, exhibitions, and brand experience brings you the first virtual Event Freelancer Summit on Wednesday 22nd July 2020.

The agenda consists of a multitude of industry-renowned speakers representing businesses, organisations and associations from across the world of events, both in the UK and from markets as diverse as Hong Kong, Australia, and Dubai. The summit was created by freelancers for their peers, and several sessions will be led by and feature freelancers themselves.

Simon Hughes, Chair of BVEP will deliver the keynote and there will be presentations from the Production Services Association (PSA), Event Industry Forum (EIF), and many other companies and organisations supporting freelancers, from both inside and outside the industry.

This is the first industry event targeted directly at freelancers and comes at a time when freelancers are suffering badly as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, where many are feeling forgotten when it comes to support from the government.

The topics covered during the day will include how to raise your profile as a freelancer, what training is available, how to best use social media to promote yourself, insurance and accountancy advice, running events in a Covid-19 environment and some of the inspirational things the industry has been doing as a result of the pandemic.  There will also be drop-in sessions available on some of the topics in the days following the event.

The summit is being produced by Connektd Directors, Steve Squires, and Ajay Parekh, both experienced freelancers and consultants in the industry.  Connektd – Your freelance community is the community platform for companies and freelancers working in events, exhibitions, and brand experience.

The event is free to attend.

“The events industry is completely dependent on its freelance workforce, and we wanted to deliver an event that reinforced this and offered support, information, and encouragement at what is a difficult time for many of them,” said Squires.

‘’The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting many thousands of freelancers in the events industry across the world and whilst we are seeing many new solutions and communities coming together to support one another we can also see the need for a global response and that the UK continues to be at the forefront of the industry in setting standard, policies and a way forward through this crisis,’’ said Parekh
